Destination Bologna

Join us in Bologna for the IALC 2018 Workshop!

Bologna is the largest city of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Northern Italy; celebrated for having some of the best cuisine in the world, home to Europe’s oldest university and host to the next IALC Workshop in 2018!

At an IALC Workshop, you get to know the owners and directors personally as well as the professional teachers and administrators who take care of your clients. They run language centres that are unique and individual, offering exceptional language programmes in wonderful locations around the world and share a passion for language education and student care.

Following the success of the IALC 2017 Workshop in Boston the workshop is returning to Europe next year where we expect to attract an even greater number delegates from around the world.

Known as ‘La Rossa’ (The Red) due to its iconic crimson buildings. ‘La Grassa’ (The Fat) for its delicious, rich cuisine and ‘La Dotta’ (The Educated) because of its university and culture of learning; Bologna is a city of towers, tortellini and outstanding teaching and is the perfect destination to hold the world’s best language travel workshop.

Looking ahead to the IALC 2018 Workshop, Luca Armaroli, school co-director of ALCE Bologna said:

“I can’t wait for us to host the IALC workshop in my city. I say my city because as an Italian, I am of course extremely passionate about Bologna but seriously, we can’t wait to welcome you to the capital of the food valley. Bologna is a city of art, history and culture and we promise you great events, great nights and even greater parties with marvellous food and wine for all, so please save the date as we look forward to greeting you in April 2018!”

Student life in Bologna

In the lead up to the 2018 IALC Workshop here is a perspective on student life in Bologna.

Bologna is the perfect city for students. With its 85,000 university students, the city is built around student life and is lively, young and dynamic. It has something for everyone.

History, culture and art is omnipresent in dozens of museums in the city. Each corner of every street is eye-catching and a truly beautiful architectural discovery.

Bologna offers so many things to do. It is full of parks where you can study, read, play sports, run, have a picnic or just enjoy the sunshine.

At the end of the day, the locals gather together for the famous Aperitivos, where students can eat, drink and socialise until late into the night in hundreds of bars in the city.

The city is an attractive and pleasant size; it is easily walkable (30 minutes from one end to another) and the amazing thing is that, no matter the weather, you are sheltered by its 40 kilometres of fantastic looking archways (truly appreciated in case of rain or strong sun!).

Everything is close: even mountains and beaches are only a short distance away. As my friend and colleague Gabriela at ALCE put it best: “I just love being here, I am amazed to meet so many students that return; but I deeply understand them, I can’t wait to come back!”
